A Chinese company has expressed interest in setting up coal-based power plants with a total production capacity of 2,640 megawatts in Gadani, Balochistan
China Gezhouba Group Company (CGGC) and the Private Power and Infrastructure Board (PPIB) on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for developing three power projects of 660MW each (totaling 1,980MW) based on imported coal in the planned Gadani Power Park.
The total investment of the venture is $4 billion.
Are you sure it would be in Balochistan? I think the quality of coal of Thar is the best in Pakistan.
Yes, but the Gadani Power Park is in Baluchistan
I was expecting a detailed reply from moderator, rather merely saying “yes”. I would like to share some important statistics I gathered and made available at Wikipedia.

The proposed power park is still in Gadani. And they will still intend to use imported coal. As par the press release issued by the state.
As to why they want to use imported coal. You may take it up with Secretary Water & Power Saif Ullah Chattha or the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Pakistan Power Park Management Company Limited (PPMCL), Ms. Nergis Sethi.
If the above individuals are not forthcoming try and get in touch with the former head of the SIndh coal authority Dr. Khatumal Jivan.
Well if I was taken from a press release then the refence should be quoted . I am sure you are referring it in selfdefence.
I think you shouldn’t rely on the press releases. I would recommend you to place a news information based on your self evaluation. ( either the news should placed or not, what credibility would it has). I am not asking you to take a side. But the news should be analysed before placing it for public. This would make your information more reliable and distinguish you than others.
I know all of them in person, they are always a call away from me. but my point was to see how do you take the news as moderator or editor.
We don’t make news we publish it. PPIB released it and it was carried forthwith. We did check it with most major dailies as well before placement.
The reason this topic is important to us is because we have worked with Dr. Jivan in the early days of the PPP govt. on the feasibility of turning coal into diesel. Right before the Authority was handed over to the federation.
Photonews is not in the analysis or evaluation stage as yet. Which is why there are no articles or critiques here
