Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Friday presented provincial budget FY 2014-15 with an outlay of Rs 686 billion.
Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah announced that budget for the fiscal year 2014 – 15 is tax free.
The key highlights of the budget for the fiscal year 2014 – 15 are as follows
- Rs 55.90 billion has been allocated for the law and order situation in the province.
- 12,000 new police jobs would also be introduced and Rs 4.65 billion has been allocated for operational needs of the police.
- Rs 185 billion has been allocated for public sector development programme.
- Ten percent ad hoc relief has been announced for government servants while an increase of 10% has been proposed in the pensions of retired government employees.
- Minimum wages of the worker has been increased to Rs 11,000.
- Fixed medical allowance for Grade 1-15 officers has also been increased by 10%.
- Rs 134.32 has been allocated for education, Qaim Ali Shah announced. Health sector would get Rs 43.58 billion
- Rs 6 billion. Rs 20 billion has been fixed for development in energy sector.
- Rs. 1 billion has been allocated for the Karachi Circular Railways, Lyari Expressway.
- Rs. 1 billions has been allocated for Thar coal power project.
- 7.3 billion rupees have been allocated for the provision of clean drinking water to people in Thar and Rs 42 billion will be spent on different schemes in Karachi.
- Irrigation sector in Sindh has been allocated budget of Rs 35.57 billion.
