The University of Karachi earlier today denied rumours that the campus was evacuated following reports of a bomb threat in the vicinity.
“Reports that a bomb has been planted on campus are all fake,” a university spokesperson said.
“Students have not been evacuated and classes and labs are being held as per schedule,” he added.
Earlier, sections of the media reported that a bomb was placed at Islami Jamiat Talaba’s book fair being held on campus.
Last month, KU was forced to postpone its convocation for want of adequate security arrangements for the event. The decision was taken following a meeting where security conditions at the campus were discussed following the recent attack at Bacha Khan University, Charsadda.
Universities across the country are on high-alert following last month’s attack at Bacha Khan University in Charsadda. Gunmen stormed the university killing at least 22 people.
