The local grapevine has it that Nazia Hassan and Zoheb Hassan: the pioneers of Pakistan’s pop music are set to be immortalised in an upcoming Bollywood film.
The winsome duo have given some iconic hits over the last three decades and their fans just can’t wait to see how their illustrious careers are summed up in few hours.
Singer Zoheb took to Facebook to announce the big news saying: “A Bollywood film on the lives of pop icons, Nazia and Zoheb Hassan featuring their hits spanning three decades to be announced soon. Watch this space for more information.”
The Hassans have given top chart albums of the 80s such as Disco Deewane, Boom Boom, Young Tarang Hotline and Camera Camera.
They reached new heights of fame when their song Aap Jaisa Koi was first featured as a soundtrack for the 1980 Bollywood film Qurbani.
However, in the late 90s Nazia left her career to focus on her married life followed by an untimely death in 2000. While Zoheb pursued his music career and released his solo album Kismat in 2006.
He also paid ode to Nazia in a tear-jerking performance of the duo’s hit Jaana in Coke Studio 7 alongside Zoe Viccaji in 2014.
