Melbourne: Australia comfortably defeated rivals New Zealand by seven wickets to win the ICC World Cup in Melbourne.
New Zealand batted first but were all out for just 183 as captain Michael Clarke helped his country lift the trophy for the first time since 2007.
Australia’s captain managed 74 before being bowled by Matt Henry late on, leaving Steve Smith to score the decisive runs.
Smith payed the wining shot.
