As the 16th phase of talks between the government and opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is expected to resume in Lahore on Thursday, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has expressed hope that the political crisis in the country would be resolved through talks with the PTI.
Talking to media in Lahore, the Minister said the dialogue had been suspended on PTI’s unreasonable demand for the Prime Minister’s resignation.
Now they have withdrawn this demand, thus, progress in negotiations could be expected, he added.
Ahsan Iqbal said the government desires to reach a breakthrough in the political impasse as early as possible.
He said if the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) take one step forward, the government would take two steps further to resolve the issues.
He urged the PTI leadership to demonstrate seriousness to resolve the issue so that the country could move forward speedily on the path of progress and prosperity.
The Minister emphasized political maturity and tolerance for bringing political stability in the country, which he described as a prerequisite to economic progress.
He expressed regret over the killing of protesting PTI worker in in Faisalabad and urged all the political parties to refrain from issuing provocative statements that could incite the workers of the opponent parties.
