Islamabad: Afghanistan has waived the financial guarantee of 110 per cent customs duty and $100 per 25 tonnes charges on Pakistani goods transiting through the country to Central Asian States.
In a meeting with the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday, Afghanistan Ambassador Janan Mosazai informed that a notification has been issued in this regard.
The two sides also finalised the date for holding 10th Pak-Afghan Joint Economic Commission (JEC) meeting — to be held in Islamabad on August 26-27.
Dar informed the envoy that the government has already undertaken preparatory work for the meeting.
He asked Secretary Economic Affairs Division Saleem Sethi to review progress on different projects and ascertain implementation status of decisions taken during the last commission’s meeting in November.
Dar said that the JEC meeting would further enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.
He proposed technical level meeting of Pak-Afghan officials prior to the formal JEC meeting.
Mosazai also expressed his gratitude on the progress of Jalalabad-Torkham road project.
