Sindh Police Special Investigation Unit (SIU) on Thursday arrested Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Swat commander during a raid in Karachi.
According to the superintendent Police (SIU), Tariq Dharejo said the TTP Swat commander, Khursheed Alam was arrested during the raid in Karachi and a Kalashnikov and a hand grenade were recovered from his possession.
Alam was involved in several heinous crimes including two murders and a large number of extortion activities
Tariq Dharejo also alleged that the Alam got training from Afghanistan and came to Karachi where he joined Ameer Akhtar Group. He strengthened his network in the city.
The following year, several terrorist activities were carried out in the city in which 17 policemen including a SHO were killed. The new group took responsibility of all those terrorist acts.
SP Counter Terrorism Department Raja Umer Khattab had expressed fear that the banned organisation was reorganizing in the city.
